Occasional Troubleshooting Fatigue

So I was really looking forward to gathering a number of utilities to create the world’s best—not quite, but effective at least—IT Toolkit storing multiple .iso files on a bootable USB drive for easy troubleshooting.

But the computing sphere wasn’t cooperating. So when troubleshooting goes awry, it’s time to open WordPress and write about the events of the day. Not necessarily national or world news, although I consume daily my favorite pubs like the Financial Times, Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal.

But as some of you may have noticed returning to this blog, I’ll write about trains, transportation and journeys to the north, south, east and west. Heading to Portland, Maine on Friday via Amtrak as I reported last week. Looking forward, as I can read a lot on the train, occasionally peering out the window to see the Northeast terrain go by.

But this week, only Monday, has been consuming because I decided to launch a Google Ads campaign for a nice little hobby called MarcB IT. I live in a condo so there have been a few residents who have needed and requested IT support.

Last year (in fact, it started one year ago this week) I completed an intensive, 18-week digital marketing program vis-à-vis Columbia University. A wonderful program offered by the Ivy League icon.

During those studies we learned a variety of digital marketing tools and features and there were two big projects to complete. I volunteered to lead the first cohort, although I did not, candidly, know much about digital marketing.

But the cohort of five were each delegated different tasks, while I assigned myself the task of producing an effective search engine optimization strategy for a fictional non-profit in the South Bronx offering a bevy of social services. We called it “Hope for Tomorrow.”

That’s where an excellent digital marketing tool, Ahrefs, proved very handy as I was able to decipher how different keywords could maximize eyeballs on our digital campaign.

Then there’s something called “off-page SEO” whereby if another organization with clout in the community or policy formation likes the mission of another organization they could then in theory link to our content from their website. As the Chinese leadership likes to say in economic and political circles, a “win-win.”

What a glorious summation of 18-weeks of hard work. But the efficacy of that project is now on full display with a Google Ads campaign.

A nice little feature, more accurately, plugin for WordPress I discovered is called Site Kit that enables end users to connect right within WordPress to Google’s back end of its breadth of utilities such as Ads, Analytics and Ad Sense (Lol, placing ads on my website that could generate millions!)

But know that if you’re going to run a Google Ads campaign, Google wants to know if you have a business certificate from your home state. One-hundred and sixty $$ later, I have one.

So while monitoring all the impression and click-through rates for MarcB IT, I still have to troubleshoot the troubleshooting IT Toolkit!
