Live Streaming Public Events with MarcB IT

Live streaming setup with camera, laptop, and audio equipment for a public event

As 2025 gave way to 2026, MarcB IT wrapped up a productive year supporting a wide range of clients — from local businesses in Westchester County to on-site IT work in New York City, including Manhattan and Queens. Much of that work involved hands-on troubleshooting, hardware repair, and problem-solving where reliability mattered more than quick fixes.

One example included replacing a failing CPU cooling fan on an HP Pavilion laptop. After opening the system, it became clear that the repair required specialized equipment beyond what was practical to complete on-site. Through a collaboration with Neighborhood Computer Services, a trusted local brick-and-mortar shop, the laptop was repaired properly and returned to the client in working condition. Situations like this highlight the importance of knowing not just how to fix problems, but when to involve the right partners to ensure the best outcome.

While I’ll continue providing this kind of IT support in 2026, MarcB IT is also now offering professionally produced live streaming services with reliable audio and video for organizations and public-facing events.

As I’ve written about previously, I was asked by the Hoboken Public Library to live stream several high-stakes civic events at its main branch. These included a Board of Education debate, a city council debate, and a mayoral debate. Civic engagement in Hoboken is strong, and the live streams reached a robust online audience through the Library’s Facebook page — allowing residents to follow the proceedings even if they couldn’t attend in person.

My interest in live streaming goes back to my earlier work as a video reporter. Because I retained my professional video equipment and maintained my live streaming software, I was able to step in on short notice and provide a turnkey solution when the Library needed reliable coverage.

That same approach is now available through MarcB IT for organizations in Westchester County. This service is well-suited for nonprofits, libraries, civic organizations, and small institutions that want to reach a broader audience online without managing complex technical setups themselves.

My live streaming setup includes a Sony HD camera purchased from B&H Photo in Manhattan, a Manfrotto tripod, professional XLR audio cabling, a USB capture card for video ingest, a Connected Solutions Group mobile hotspot when wired internet isn’t available, a Tripp Lite surge protector, and Telestream Wirecast live streaming software. The focus is on stability, audio clarity, and real-time monitoring — not flashy production.

Live streaming is one of several on-site technical services I provide through MarcB IT. For organizations interested in reliably broadcasting events to an online audience, I’m happy to discuss what’s involved and whether this approach is a good fit.
