Today marks two months since I officially launched MarcB IT — and it’s already been a fascinating journey.
A few individuals have reached out through my website’s contact form, looking for help with a variety of issues — from troubleshooting a Chromebook to regaining access to a locked Apple account. Each inquiry has reminded me why I started this business in the first place: to offer approachable, local tech support that people can count on.
Thanks to the Google Technical Support team, I can now track how many visitors are completing the form, giving me better insight into what’s working. I’ve also been using WPForms in WordPress for contact form creation and conversion tracking.
I remember thinking after I completed an intensive digital marketing bootcamp at Columbia University last summer that I might shift gears toward IT full-time. Ironically, that very same bootcamp gave me the tools I needed to launch my first live digital campaign — and it’s been incredibly rewarding.
Now, I wear multiple hats:
I help clients solve tech issues, sure — but I also have to stay on top of Google Ads, analyze which keywords are driving traffic, and watch that I’m not overspending on clicks that don’t lead to conversions.
A Day in the Life
I typically start my day by checking email to see who may have contacted me for support. If someone has, I’ll respond to schedule a call to understand the issue and coordinate a visit to troubleshoot and resolve it.
If no appointments are immediately pending, I use the time to review my Google Ads performance and continue studying for my next certification — CompTIA’s Network+.
When a service call is scheduled, that’s when I pack up my trusty Klein Tools IT bag (yes, the same company founded in 1857!). Inside, I load an array of essentials:
- A hardware toolkit
- Multi-meter
- Cabling
- A USB thumb drive loaded with diagnostic tools
- My Samsung laptop and a mobile hotspot (just in case the client’s internet is down)
So today is another day running MarcB IT — providing local tech support for individuals and small businesses, one device at a time.
If you’re in need of friendly, expert computer help in Westchester, I’d be glad to hear from you.
